About us

The City of Kingston is south-east of Melbourne and is approximately 20km from Melbourne's CBD. We employ over 1,450 people in a diverse range of roles including engineering, customer service, administration, finance, family, youth and children's services, sport and recreation, health, parks and gardens, planning, arts and management.

The City of Kingston has three Family and Children’s Centres that provide high quality Childcare, Kindergarten programs and onsite Maternal and Child Health nurse services. Our centres are modern, vibrant and welcoming.

The role

Our Early Years Educator position, works within our Early Years Team at Carrum Family and Children Centre. Reporting to the Education and Care Leader, your role is to:

  • Support the Early Years Program (childcare environment) to implement play-based experiences.
  • With guidance from the Senior Educators and Education and Care Leader: take regular observations, set up experiences and provide feedback/reflections from the day/week.
  • Ensure children continue to be given opportunities to expand their curiosity and interests, when regular staff members are absent.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with families on a regular basis.
  • Commitment to be an intentional Educator who seeks to support the Early Years team to provide high quality education and care to the children accessing the service.

Positions Available

Position Number 3212, Permanent Full time - based at Carrum Family and Children Centre.

Position Number 3335, Permanent Part time, Wednesdays, 8 hours per week - based at Carrum Family and Children Centre.

Please note: these roles may relocate to any one of Council’s Family and Children’s Centres (Carrum, Parkdale or Edithvale) with notice, in line with our Enterprise Agreement conditions.

About you

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong commitment to working in a team environment.
  • Understand the expectations of the Victorian and National Curriculum Frameworks, National Quality Standards and the current Regulations. 
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with children and their families.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
  • Minimum qualification of Cert 3 of Children's Services
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate including: Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management and CPR Certificate
